Megan Anna Rapinoe, born in Redding California on 5 July 1985. She started playing soccer at a early age, and honed her skills during her teenage years. The fraternal twin of Rachael, Megan Rapinoe, also attended University of Portland. Megan Rapinoe was a star on the soccer team of the school, becoming one of the leading scorers in collegiate women's soccer throughout the United States. However an injury to her knee made her miss a portion of season during her junior and sophomore seasons. As a senior, she returned to full-time football and played in playing in all games during the season. She earned a bachelor of sciences in sociology at the University of Portland, graduating in 2008. Rapinoe was recruited for the Chicago Illinois Red Stars in the new Women's Professional Soccer WPS. She was a part of the team until the team disbanded at close of the 2010. Rapinoe was a part of in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence for a brief period before being moved into Boca Raton Florida. The player scored two goals in eight games in her account and helped the magicJack to a league-leading third place finish this year. At the end of 2011, the magicJack folded and in early 2012, so did WPS. Rapinoe was a part-time player playing for Sydney Football Club FC (Australian W-League) in 2011, before heading back home to United States. The next time she played was with in the Seattle Washington Sounders Women now called the Sound FC. She played the 2013 season playing soccer in France. Later, she joined the National Women's Soccer League NWSL (formerly the WPS) that was formed as a reaction to the WPS's demise. Rapinoe eventually rose to the role of captain and became one of her team's top scorers. She scored goals or assisted in a number of them which helped the team win. Her next Olympics was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the year 2016. At Rio the U.S. team was eliminated in the quarterfinals. She first took part in this tournament in the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2011. Her contributions helped the U.S. Women's World Cup achieve successive titles between 2015 and the year 2019. The team was awarded cocaptain status in the year 2018. Rapinoe was the one who had two points for the United States in the 4-3 win over Australia at the Olympics bronze medal match in Tokyo in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic which Japan had to delay until 2021 as a result of this pandemic, also took home the gold medal in Tokyo in the year 2016.
